RoundWinner Tournament — Official Contest Rules
THIS IS A SKILL-BASED CONTEST. NO PURCHASE OR PAYMENT OF ANY KIND IS NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. A PURCHASE OR PAYMENT WILL NOT INCREASE YOUR CHANCES OF WINNING. VOID WHERE PROHIBITED.
These Official Contest Rules ("Rules") govern the RoundWinner tennis prediction tournaments (each, a "Tournament," and collectively, the "Tournaments"), a series of skill-based prediction contests operated by Racketlab LLC, a New Jersey limited liability company doing business as "RoundWinner" ("Sponsor"). By participating in a Tournament, you agree to these Rules and to the decisions of the Sponsor, which are final and binding in all matters relating to the Tournament.
1. Nature of the contest
Each Tournament is a contest of skill. The winner is determined solely by the entrant's knowledge of professional tennis and judgment in predicting the outcomes of professional tennis matches. No element of chance is used to determine any winner, including in tiebreakers. Tiebreakers are resolved by additional skill-based criteria (see Section 5).
The Tournaments are not a lottery, sweepstakes, raffle, or any form of gambling or real-money gaming. There is no consideration required to enter or win (entry is and always will be free — see Section 4), there is no element of chance in winner determination (see Section 5 and the tiebreaker rules), and no purchase or payment of any kind increases an entrant's chance of winning.
2. Eligibility
Each Tournament is open only to individuals who, at the time of entry:
- Are legal residents of the fifty (50) United States or the District of Columbia.
- Are at least eighteen (18) years of age (or the age of majority in their state of residence, whichever is greater).
- Have a valid Apple ID and a downloaded copy of the RoundWinner mobile application.
Employees, officers, and members of the Sponsor and its affiliates, and the immediate family members (spouse, parent, child, sibling, and their respective spouses) and household members of each, are not eligible.
Void where prohibited or restricted by law. Federal, state, and local laws and regulations apply.
3. Tournament period
Each Tournament has its own start date, end date, and pick-lock deadlines, which are displayed in the RoundWinner mobile application. Each featured match has its own pick-lock time, which is two (2) hours before the scheduled start time of that match. Picks for a given match must be submitted before that match's pick-lock time; picks for other matches in the same round remain open until each of those matches reaches its own pick-lock time. Once a pick has been submitted for a given match, it is final and cannot be edited or replaced.
The Sponsor's clock is the official time-keeping device for the Tournament.
4. How to enter
Free entry method (only entry method):
- Download the RoundWinner mobile application from the Apple App Store.
- Sign in using Apple Sign-In.
- Open a Tournament from the Tournaments tab and tap "Join."
- For each round, select your predicted winner for each featured match before that round's pick-lock time.
- Submit your picks.
No purchase, payment, or in-app purchase is required to enter or win. Each user receives one (1) entry per Tournament. Multiple accounts per individual are prohibited and will result in disqualification.
5. Scoring and winner determination
Each correctly predicted match earns points based on the round in which the match occurs:
| Round | Points per correct pick |
|---|---|
| Round of 128 | 1 |
| Round of 64 | 2 |
| Round of 32 | 4 |
| Round of 16 | 8 |
| Quarterfinals | 16 |
| Semifinals | 32 |
| Final | 128 |
A pick is "correct" if the predicted player or team wins the match according to the official result reported by ESPN. Walkovers, retirements, defaults, and forfeits count as a win for the advancing player.
Timing bonus on correct picks
For each correct pick, an entrant earns the round's point value plus a small fractional timing bonus (greater than zero and strictly less than one point) determined by how early the pick was submitted, measured relative to that match's pick-lock time:
- A pick submitted at or after that match's pick-lock time earns no bonus (and, if submitted after lock, is not accepted at all).
- A pick submitted fourteen (14) days or more before that match's pick-lock time earns the maximum fractional bonus.
- Picks submitted in between earn a bonus that increases linearly with how early the pick was placed.
The bonus is strictly less than one point per correct pick, so accumulated timing bonuses cannot overtake an additional correct pick at a higher round. Incorrect picks earn zero. The timing bonus is a skill-related component of scoring — it rewards an entrant's conviction and willingness to commit to a prediction early, before more information becomes available.
Perfect round bonus
If an entrant correctly predicts every featured match in a single round, the entrant earns a "perfect round" bonus equal to the number of featured matches in that round, as follows:
| Round | Featured matches | Perfect-round bonus |
|---|---|---|
| Round of 128 | 8 | +8 |
| Round of 64 | 8 | +8 |
| Round of 32 | 8 | +8 |
| Round of 16 | 8 | +8 |
| Quarterfinals | 4 | +4 |
| Semifinals | 2 | +2 |
| Final | 1 | not eligible |
The Final round has only one featured match, so a correct Final pick is scored under the base table above; no separate "perfect round" bonus is awarded for the Final.
The winner of each Tournament is the entrant with the highest total points (sum of base round points, timing bonuses, and any perfect-round bonuses) at the conclusion of the Tournament's Final round.
Skill-based tiebreaker
Because the timing bonus described above is computed at full microsecond precision from server-recorded submission times, ties on total points are extremely unlikely. If two or more entrants nevertheless finish tied at the highest total points, the winner is determined by the following skill-based criteria, applied in order, until the tie is broken:
- Earliest correct-pick timestamp in the Tournament (by server timestamp). Among tied entrants, the entrant whose earliest correct pick of the Tournament was submitted earliest in time wins. This rewards the entrant who made the earliest successful predictive call.
- Earliest Tournament join time (by server timestamp). If a tie remains after applying step 1 (which can occur only in the rare case that no tied entrant has any correct pick), the entrant who committed to enter the Tournament earliest wins. Committing to play before the field, matchups, and draw fully resolve is itself a skill-related expression of conviction in one's prediction.
Each tiebreaker is derived from skill-related conduct of the entrant. No element of chance, no random selection, and no lottery-style mechanism is used at any stage of winner determination.
Sponsor reserves the right to recalculate scores if a manifest scoring error caused by incorrect third-party data is identified before the winner is officially determined.
6. Prize
Each Tournament awards one (1) prize to the winner. The prize for a given Tournament is described in that Tournament's prize description in the RoundWinner application. Prizes are typically tennis-related merchandise.
Prizes are non-transferable and non-exchangeable. No cash equivalent or substitution will be made except by the Sponsor, who reserves the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value if the advertised prize is unavailable.
7. Winner notification and claiming
The winner will be notified in-app — through the RoundWinner application's tournament Prize tab and a banner on the Tournaments list — after the conclusion of the Tournament's Final round.
Claim window
Winners must submit shipping information within thirty (30) days of the Tournament's official end date by completing the claim form linked from the in-app prize notification. Unclaimed prizes are forfeit.
To claim a prize, the winner must:
- Open the claim form linked from the in-app prize notification and provide a valid US shipping address.
- Complete and return any documents required by the Sponsor, which may include an Affidavit of Eligibility, Liability Release, and (where lawful) a Publicity Release, within seven (7) days of receipt.
- If the prize value, combined with any other prizes won from the Sponsor in the same calendar year, equals or exceeds US $600, complete and return an IRS Form W-9.
If the winner fails to submit a valid claim within the thirty-day claim window, fails to return required documents in time, is found to be ineligible, or otherwise fails to comply with these Rules, the prize will be forfeited and an alternate winner will be selected by re-applying the scoring and tiebreaker procedure in Section 5 to the remaining entrants.
Shipping
Once a valid claim is received, the Sponsor will ship the prize within fourteen (14) days, via USPS to a United States shipping address. International shipping is not offered at this time. Sponsor is not responsible for prizes lost, damaged, or delayed in shipment.
8. Taxes
Winners are solely responsible for all federal, state, and local taxes on the value of any prize received. If the total fair market value of prizes received from the Sponsor in a calendar year is US $600 or more, the Sponsor will issue an IRS Form 1099-MISC to the winner and report the prize value to the IRS. The winner must provide a valid US Tax Identification Number (via Form W-9) before the prize is delivered.
9. Privacy
Personal information collected from entrants is subject to the Sponsor's Privacy Policy at https://playroundwinner.com/privacy.
10. Conditions of participation
By entering a Tournament, each entrant:
- Agrees to be bound by these Rules and by the decisions of the Sponsor, which are final and binding in all matters.
- Releases and holds harmless the Sponsor and its members, officers, employees, agents, affiliates, and Apple Inc. from any and all claims, damages, or liabilities arising out of participation in the Tournament, the receipt or use of any prize, or any travel or activity related to the prize.
- Acknowledges that the Sponsor is not responsible for typographical, printing, technical, hardware, software, network, telephone, internet, or other errors that may affect the Tournament.
- Acknowledges that Apple Inc. is not a sponsor of the Tournament and has no responsibility or liability with respect to the Tournament or any prize.
- Acknowledges that the Sponsor is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the ATP, WTA, ESPN, the United States Tennis Association, the International Tennis Federation, or any tennis tournament or organizer named in the Service.
11. Disqualification
The Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify any entrant who:
- Tampers with or attempts to tamper with the entry process or the operation of the Tournament or the Service.
- Violates these Rules or the RoundWinner Terms of Service.
- Acts in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner, or with intent to annoy, abuse, threaten, or harass any other person.
- Creates more than one account or enters under more than one identity.
- Uses any automated system, bot, script, or similar means to enter or play.
- Provides false or misleading information.
Disqualified entrants forfeit any potential prize.
12. Termination and modification
The Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to cancel, terminate, modify, or suspend any Tournament if any factor (including without limitation a technical failure, fraud, or causes beyond the Sponsor's reasonable control) impairs the integrity or proper functioning of the Tournament. In such case, the Sponsor may, at its discretion, determine a winner from among eligible entries received up to the time of impairment using the scoring and tiebreaker procedure in Section 5, or cancel the Tournament without awarding a prize.
13. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Sponsor and its members, officers, employees, agents, and affiliates are not responsible for: (a) any incorrect or inaccurate information, whether caused by Sponsor, entrants, third-party data providers (including ESPN), or any equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the Tournament; (b) technical failures of any kind; (c) unauthorized human intervention; (d) printing or typographical errors in any materials associated with the Tournament; (e) errors in the administration of the Tournament; or (f) late, lost, undeliverable, damaged, or stolen entries.
The Sponsor's total cumulative liability to any entrant arising out of or relating to a Tournament will not exceed the fair market value of the prize for that Tournament.
14. Disputes; governing law
Except where prohibited, each entrant agrees that:
- Any and all disputes, claims, and causes of action arising out of or connected with a Tournament or any prize awarded shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action, and exclusively by binding arbitration as set out in the RoundWinner Terms of Service.
- All claims, judgments, and awards shall be limited to actual out-of-pocket costs incurred, and in no event will entrant be entitled to attorneys' fees.
- All issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation, and enforceability of these Rules shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with, the laws of the State of New Jersey, without regard to conflict of law principles.
